Apart from managing the Kuching High School, Kuching Teochew Association has always been very supportive of Chinese education. In 1982, the Education and Welfare fund was set up to specially take care of the education and welfare needs of the Teochew community. 

In 1985, Scholarship was introduced for students from poor families. Since 1989, the Association began to give away cash awards to outstanding students annually. In 1998, Study Loan was introduced for students pursing tertiary education. The Education scheme is aimed to encourage students to excel in their studies and thus contributing towards nation-building.
